Auf der Suche nach dem Hobbit

; Quelle: Searching For The Hobbit

Die neuseeländische Independant-Produktionsfirma Assassin Films dreht seit einige Zeit eine Dokumentation zu DER HERR DER RINGE. Der Titel: Auf der Suche nach dem Hobbit .

"Have you any idea where the Hobbit is?"
Sir Ian McKellen (Gandalf) schien von dieser
Frage etwas verwirrt

Press Release:

The Search for the Real Hobbit Uncovered in Online Documentary FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Auckland, New Zealand January 30 2001. Assassin Films, a New Zealand based independent film company looks to uncover the real hobbit - “Is the hobbit just a fictional character conjured up by the imagination of author JRR Tolkien, or does he really exist”? Assassin Films have set out to find the answer and have appropriately named their feature length documentary “Searching for the Hobbit”, which will begin screening at festivals later this year. They have also set up an interactive web site that shows the making of the documentary in progress. You can visit the site at www.searchingforthehobbit.com. “The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings is the bible to millions of dedicated fans around the globe and everyday we learn that the world we live in is really not that far away from Tolkien’s imaginary world of Middle Earth. For instance, the eye of Sauron – the dark force in the LOTR is most definitely all around us, as you will see in parts of the more controversial side of our documentary”, explains producer Mark Morgan. New Line Cinema, the Hollywood production company behind the $600 million LOTR trilogy has recognized Assassin Films, stamping their project as the “unofficial documentary. To date, Assassin Films has shot over 45 hours of footage, have traveled around the world interviewing people from all walks of life – in San Francisco they met a homeless man who clutches his copy of the Hobbit close at all times, to London where they met Simon Tolkien – the grandson of JRR Tolkien, through to numerous musicians, artists who have told Assassin Films their stories of struggle and triumph from the inspiration Tolkien’s works has given them. “Eleanor Farell of the Mythopoic Society stated that the hobbits are us, he exists within every man”. Mark goes on to explain, “In a world filled with world trade domination and commercialisation, it’s good to know that there are “hobbit-like” people out there who are willing to stand up against such dark entities. JRR Tolkien himself was a pacifist, so maybe to him the Hobbit was more than just a fictional character”. Because of their independent status and as a way of spreading the word about the documentary, web surfers can visit the site www.searchingforthehobbit.com. Here they can view weekly downloads of the documentary in progress, chat with fellow fans worldwide, visit the inspiration room and interactive art gallery where people can submit their own work. One of the other unique features of the web site is that Assassin Films invite people to be involved in the making of the project. “We want to hear from people around the world, who can tell us who the hobbit is to them and because there are so many fascinating stories that people wish to tell us our search for the Hobbit will continue”.
